Novel concept! Deep frying fish and potatoes was very successful. Better yet, the unit has a cover that closes and a filter that cleans up the air so you can breathe in the kitchen while cooking. We didn't even have a 'fishy' apartment building. The Deni 9100 Combo Cooker comes with a steamer basket and good instructions for steaming.
Steaming has been wonderful, and fast, for fresh green beans and Chinese steamed dumplings (the grandchild's favorite!). Okay, all can't be sunshine and lollipops. The Deni 9100 Combo Cooker is a 'fast' cooker not a 'slow' cooker. The instructions provide great recipes that are done in 3-5 hours. However, the instructions and recipes seem to have neglected the real 'slow cooking' processes that take 8-12 hours. With the thin Teflon coated inner pan (removable for cleaning!), this is perhaps a drawback of the unit.
BUT three and a half out of four ain't bad.not when you don't have to have all of those special purpose electrical instruments in your kitchen. I'll tell you how much I like my Deni 9100 Combo Cooker.I take it home with me on weekends (I work in a different city and have a small apartment during the work week). Further, my Deni Combo Cooker goes to my sailboat every weekend during the season. Previous to the Deni 9100 Combo Cooker I thought that my Chinese WOK was the very best kitchen device in the world. Now, the WOK still is, unless there's an electric outlet for my Deni 9100 Combo Cooker.
